All About FTC Team #16457 Deviation
Deviation is an FTC (First Tech Challenge Team). Each year, FTC teams design, build, and program robots to complete a challenge. Then, they attend competitions where robots compete in an alliance format where two robots work together to gain more points than another alliance of two robots. Besides constructing and coding robots, FTC teams also perform outreach where they connect with the engineering community and teach others about FIRST programs and S.T.E.M. They also create an engineering notebook to document their season, and gather sponsors and raise funds to cover the expenses associated with the competition. Ongoing Support
Thank you to our sponsor, Han Academy Naperville, for their support. Han Academy helps students excel in school by holding extra academic classes on weekends. We are so thankful for how they provided us with financial, marketing, and administration support.
We are very thankful to Governor State University for providing us with our head coach. Founded in 1969, Governors State University is a four-year public university in the state of Illinois that champions openness, innovation, and flexibility. Serving more than 5,500 students, GSU offers 64 degree and 24 certificate programs and our students earn the qualifications needed to succeed in business, industry, healthcare, the arts, and education.
Make-it-Here is a fantastic maker space. They have everything a maker needs including woodcutting and metalworks machines, as well as 3D printing and laser cutting technology. Our team would like to thank Make-It-Here, a professional maker space that hosts professional engineers as well as FIRST teams, for hosting us, and providing us with a space to work as well as plenty of tools. Mike, the owner, is also our mentor and taught us lots of skills in CAD, 3D printing, and electronics. Thank you, Make-It-Here!
